KINDERGARTEN IN THE 50S

Things were way different back in the 50s concerning relationships, courtesies, knowledge and language. When I was in the lower grades like kindergarten and 1st grade, we sang this little 5-finger song with actions. It was about Thumbkin, Pointer, Tall Man, Ringkin and Pinky. The lyrics went "Where is Thumbkin, where is Thumbkin," "Here I am, here I am" and the lyrics were repeated for each finger changing only the name of the finger. The left-handed finger would ask the "Where is ____, where is _____" part and the right handed finger would respond with "Here I am, here I am" while pointing only that finger straight up. The left-handed finger would ask "How are you today, Sir?" And the right-handed finger's response would be "Very well and thank you" while bowing the erect finger down a few times. That was followed by "Run away, run away" while each arm went behind the singers' backs. What crossed my mind is how it looked with the class of students standing in a circle displaying Tall Man (middle finger) while singing in complete innocence, "Here I am, here I am."

FOOLISH AND STUPID ARGUMENTS

There is an old saying that most of you have heard: "Never discuss religion or politics." It's Presidential campaign time again and facebook is set on fire with arguments. The Bible is a good guide for how to approach presenting your views to another person or persons. These are scripture verses but the same principle applies today in other venues.

"How painful are honest words! But what do your arguments prove?" Job 6:25

13 To answer before listening—that is folly and shame. Proverbs 18:13

"No one calls for justice; no one pleads a case with integrity. They rely on empty arguments, they utter lies; they conceive trouble and give birth to evil." Isaiah 59:4

"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." II Corinthians 10:5

"I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments." Colossians 2:4

They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain." I Timothy 6:1-5

Regarding false teachers: "Keep reminding God’s people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen." II Timothy 2:14

"What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? James 4:1" What do you desire to happen in the election? Do you want to win the argument for the sake of winning or personal victory?

"You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God." James 4:2

Genesis 9:2 - "The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands. (God speaking to Noah)

2 Kings 17:25 "When they first lived there, they did not worship the Lord; so he sent lions among them and they killed some of the people." God is in ultimate control of the creatures.

Psalm 34:10 "The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing." "Lions" refers to men in this case, I believe.

Psalm 104:21 "The lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God.

Psalm 145:16 KJV - "Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing"

Ps. 145:21 NIV - "My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever."

Psalm 104:27 - "All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time."

Psalm 136:25 - "He gives food to every creature. His love endures forever."

Psalm 145:21 - "My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever."

Proverbs 28:1 - "The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion."

Ecclesiastes 9:4 "Anyone who is among the living has hope—even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!"

Ecclesiastes 10:20 - "Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom, because a bird in the sky may carry your words, and a bird on the wing may report what you say."

Isaiah 11:6-7 "The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox."

Isaiah 34:14  "Desert creatures will meet with hyenas, and wild goats will bleat to each other; there the night creatures will also lie down and find for themselves places of rest."

Isaiah 35:9 "No lion will be there, nor any ravenous beast; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there,"

Isaiah 65:25 - "The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, and dust will be the serpent’s food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain,” says the Lord.

Jeremiah 50:39 - “So desert creatures and hyenas will live there, and there the owl will dwell. It will never again be inhabited or lived in from generation to generation."

Ezekiel 38:20 - "The fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. 

Daniel 6:22 - " My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight." Daniel was in a lion's den with hungry lions.

Amos 5:19 - "It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him." This sounds like my life.

Hosea 2:18 - "In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety." God has big plans for us and the creatures.

2 Timothy 4:17 - "But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth." The lion's mouth was greatly feared.

2 Peter 2:12 - "But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals they too will perish."


A DEMON CALLED PORN

I am a demon called Porn.
Among powers and principalities I rank high.
A host of fallen angels serve me;
We answer to the father of lies.

Few know that I am addictive;
I’ve hidden my secret well.
I’ll torture mankind on earth,
Then finish the job in hell.

I display my images across the screens,
Of movies, videos and tv.
On the pages of books and magazines,
To be viewed in secrecy.

I prey on young boys; they’re a delicacy to me--
Young men for whom God has a plan.
I’ll lure each with shock, seduce him with pleasure,
Suck his life, and leave the shell of a man.

I sit on a throne, crowned in great splendor,
And with spiritually dead bones pick my teeth.
But when knees hit the floor, my power is no more.
Thanks to Christ, whose crown was a wreath.
