WHOEVER IS NOT WITH ME IS AGAINST ME

This concept holds true whatever the issue. If God forbids an act and we approve of it, we are working against Him. There is no riding the fence. You're either for Him or against Him, depending on your obedience to His Word. You may say "God forgives." Yes, God forgives, but only when we repent and change our behavior and thinking. We may not participate in certain evils but if we even support them, we are just as guilty as if we participated. By our law we call the person who supports evil acts an accessory. Here is the definition from Oxford Languages: "accessory: someone who gives assistance to the perpetrator of a crime, without directly committing it, sometimes without being present." If you are not against it, you are for it.

Matt. 12:30 & Luke 11:23 - “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

Mark 9:40 - Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us."

Luke 10:16 - “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”

II Cor. 10:8 - "For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends."

II Cor. 13:8 - "For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth."

James 4:4 - "You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God."


ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED?




There has long been a debate about whether or not you can fall out of God's grace once you accept Christ. Before I present scriptures that confirm whether or not you are always saved, no matter what, I need to define through scripture what saves us. I broke the scriptures down into two sections. The first section lists those verses that indicate how you are saved. The second part lists how you can fall away. Following are some of those scriptures:

Matthew 10:22 - You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Mark 16:16 - Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Luke 7:50 - Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Luke 13:23-24 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?” He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

John 5:39-40 - You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

John 10:9 - I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.

Acts 2:21 - And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Acts 2:36-41 - “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Acts 4:12 - Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Acts 16:29-33 -  The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.

Romans 5:10 - For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Romans 10:9 - If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
 
Romans 10:10 - For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Romans 10:13 - “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

1 Corinthians 1:18 - For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

1 Corinthians 15:2 - By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

Ephesians 2:8 - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—

Philippians 1:27-30 - Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel 28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. 29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him, 30 since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 - But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

I Timothy 2:1-4 - I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

2 Timothy 1:9 - He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.

Titus 3:5 - He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit...

I Peter 4:16-19 - However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” 19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

Once Saved, Always Saved?
So, now we come to the subject of falling away or no longer being in God's grace. I can only go by scriptures. Some suggest that the falling away is temporary and repentance can bring them back into the fold. Hebrews 6:4-6 (below) doesn't leave any doubt that you cannot come back to repentance if you have been a devoted Christian, guided by the Spirit, protected, and have a knowledge of the Word but have fallen away. Hebrews 10:26 is another verse that indicates you can fall away permanently.

Matthew 13:21-22 - The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.

John 5:28-29 - “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned." 

John 16:1 - “All this I have told you so that you will not fall away.

Romans 6:14-18 - For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. 

1 Corinthians 11:30 - That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.

Galatians 5:4 - "You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace." The law is our teacher but cannot save us. Without Christ, no one can be saved, not just through belief (The demons believe and tremble), not through faith alone for faith without works is dead, not through works alone (Romans 3:20 - 
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin), and not by baptism alone. We cannot enter heaven just by doing good. We must have a loving, devoted relationship with Christ.

II Thessalonians 2:9-12 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

Hebrews 6:4-6  - It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

Hebrews 10:26 - If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,

Hebrews 10:39 - But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.

Hebrews 12:15 - See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

II Peter 3:15-16 - Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

Matthew 7:13 - “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it."

I Timothy 5:7 - 7 Give the people these instructions, so that no one may be open to blame. 8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

The Rich and the Kingdom of God - Mark 10:17-31
17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’” 20 “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.” 21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth. 23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!” 24 The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a  needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?” 27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” 28 Then Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow you!” 29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

I will let the scriptures speak for themselves. I have done most of the research for you to save you some time and trouble but it is important that you educate yourselves. Your eternity depends on it.

Psalm 136:25 - He gives food to every creature. His love endures forever.

Psalm 104:27 - All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time.

Psalm 145:16 KJV - Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.

Ps. 145:21 - Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.

Psalm 148:7-11 KJV - 7 Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps: 8 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapours; stormy wind fulfilling his word: 9 Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars: 10 Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl:

Prov. 12:10 - The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. 

Eccl. 3:21- Who knows if the human spirit rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?”

Isaiah 34:14 - Desert creatures will meet with hyenas, and wild goats will bleat to each other; there the night creatures will also lie down and find for themselves places of rest.

Ezekiel 38:20 - The fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground.

Hosea 2:18 - In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety.

Jeremiah 8:7 - Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the Lord.

INVISIBLE OLD PEOPLE


This is no reflection on my own kids at all. They are a big help to me. My thoughts are toward society in general and what I hear others say.



INVISIBLE OLD PEOPLE

I've been alive since the late 40s. That indicates I am old. I have noticed a change in attitude toward the elderly since I was young. They are no longer treated special, helped, visited, honored, and are no longer a source of advice or information. Even some churches ignore them. They may as well be invisible.

The Bible has a lot to say about how old people are to be treated. God doesn't make a big deal out of how they are treated just because He too is old. They simply have their place in His heart; he cares about how they are treated.

Family members don't seem to appreciate what their elderly grandma or grandpa had to say until their elderly predecessors die. They don't appreciate what their parents or grandparents went through in life and wish they had asked more questions before they passed. They wish they hadn't been sassy or smart-aleck to their parents and/or grandparents when they were given advice. But when it's over, it's over. There's no going back and "fixing it."

Here's what God has to say about how old people are to be treated:

“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. Ex. 20:12

“‘Each of you must respect your mother and father..." Lev. 19:3a
“‘Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord. Lev. 19:32

“Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you. Deut. 5:16

Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding? Job 12:12

It is not only the old who are wise, not only the aged who understand what is right. Job 32:9

Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come. Ps. 71:18

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, "The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him." Ps. 92:12

Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. Prov. 1:8

My son, keep your father’s command and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. Prov. 6:20

Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life. Prov. 16:31

A foolish son brings grief to his father and bitterness to the mother who bore him. Prov. 17:25

Whoever robs their father and drives out their mother is a child who brings shame and disgrace. Prov. 19:26

Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children. 
Prov. 17:6

The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old. Prov. 20:29

Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Prov. 23:22

May your father and mother rejoice; may she who gave you birth be joyful! Prov. 23:25

Whoever robs their father or mother and says, “It’s not wrong,” is partner to one who destroys. Prov. 28:24

“There are those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers; 12 those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth; Prov. 30:11-12

“The eye that mocks a father, that scorns an aged mother, will be pecked out by the ravens of the valley, will be eaten by the vultures. Prov. 30:17

Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?" For it is not wise to ask such questions. Eccl. 7:10 (Solomon, the author, is depressed when writing this. But this is a valid statement. People still talk about the olden days being better.)

However many years anyone may live,
let them enjoy them all.

THE WISE AND THE FOOLISH

Romans 1:20 - "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools..."

It is beyond my comprehension how some people can claim there is no God when the evidence is all around them in the tiniest details of every plant, every creature and man himself. It can be found in the atom, in radio waves and all over the place in science. Those who think of themselves as the great minds and geniuses think they are smarter than God, but who of them has created any part of nature? The sky? The universe? Other universes? The unknown? Who can make all things work together such as in the human body or the tilt of the earth? 

The "Big Bang" had no intellect or design capability. It doesn't care about such things as colors, talents, emotions or instincts. It doesn't hold things together to sustain life. It had/has no brain, heart, emotions or soul. God does, and He made man in His image. God knew the Earth was round and not flat as was believed by the greatest of minds for hundreds of years. He knew because He created it. It is mentioned in the Old Testament in Isaiah 40:22: "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers."

I Corinthians 1:18-29 - "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:

'I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.'

20 Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

Following my description of the founding and growing of CWBA, Christian Women's Benevolent Association, is a good article written by a then Senator about CWBA, an organization for which I worked part-time in 2000-2001 while a student and Dorm Mom at St. Louis Christian College, now closed. I was secretary to the President of CWBA. She too was only there part-time because of her age and health. While there, I was asked to write their history from records kept. Part 1 is my understanding of its history, though only the highlights. My part is followed by Senator Maria Nadal's article who wrote her part in 2012.

The first time I heard the name Christian Woman's Benevolent Association, my reaction was that it sounded like a sewing circle. As it turned out, it did begin as a sewing circle. Ladies from churches, particularly the Christian Church, made baby clothes for mothers with babies and who had no support. CWBA wouldn't be established until later years.

The Christian women then saw the need for housing for the mothers and their babies, so they obtained a house in 1899, probably donated, in which to provide a home for the mothers and their babies. (See photo) But then a plague came along and many of the babies died.

That revealed the need for a hospital, so they raised the funds, no doubt through churches, organizations and individuals, to build a hospital. It was called the Christian Hospital of St. Louis. Long story short, it is now Christian Northeast and Christian Northwest.

A need for a juvenile home became apparent, so in 1962 the Mothers and Babies Home was turned into an orphanage or Youth Home. It was discontinued in the 1980s, however.

Later they saw a need for an Old People's Home. It was eventually called the Christian Care Home that grew into the need for 180 beds. The board saw a need for a parent organization to oversee the hospital, the Mothers and Babies Home/Orphanage and the Old People's Home. They called it Christian Women's Benevolent Association or CWBA. They later built Harnett Christian Village, a home for Assisted Living residents.

All of this started with a group of ladies seeing a need and doing something about it. That is active Christianity provided by those who, once they saw the needs, assembled the work force that made these homes and the hospitals possible. And look what became of it: from a sewing circle to a Mothers and Babies Home to a hospital, to an orphanage, to an old people's home (180-bed Christian Care Home with 355 employees) then to an Assisted Living Home. Christian works, generated by love and caring, was combined with active, hands-on work. They saw a need and did something about it over and over.

The Christian Women's Benevolent Association (C.W.B.A.) has been tirelessly helping the area's poor, homeless, orphaned, elderly and needy families to survive and thrive since 1899. Although it no longer has an orphanage and its Christian hospitals are now under new management, these women with core beliefs in the teaching of Jesus Christ started a valuable and uniquely American tradition of taking care of those who are in need.

Here is a synopsis of the organizations history, described by the Christian Care Home in Ferguson:

"In 1899, a group of concerned women led by Fannie Hamilton Shedd Ayars organized efforts to care for impoverished mothers and their babies. A home for children from newborn to age two and their mothers was established called the Mothers and Babies Home.

In 1903, this same group of women recognized the need for more extensive medical care of the mothers and babies and established Christian Hospital of St Louis. While the hospital was opened with the needs of mothers and child specifically in mind, the hospital served people of all ages. Always looking for ways to help people in need, in 1911 these women opened the Christian Old People's Home.

Now with three facilities, in 1911 the women formalized their organization as the Christian Women's Benevolent Association (C.W.B.A.). The organization provided consultation as well as financial and spiritual guidance to the Mothers and Babies Home, Christian Hospital of St Louis, and the Christian Old People's Home.

The childrens' mission of the C.W.B.A. changed in 1962 to provide resident care for the wards of the juvenile court system of Metropolitan St. Louis. The Mothers and Babies Home was converted to C.W.B.A. Youth Home.

In 1975 a new facility for the Christian Old People's Home was built at 800 Chambers Road in Ferguson, Missouri. That same decade Christian Hospital of St. Louis was sold. Some of the proceeds from that sale were used by the C.W.B.A. to expand the Christian Old People's Home and to build new facilities for the Youth Home. This ministry was discontinued in the 1980's.

As we entered our second century of caring for the poor and the sick, C.W.B.A. embarked on building a new state-of-the-art facility to house both the Christian Care Home and Harnett Christian Village residents. The facility is licensed and certified by the state of Missouri. Residents receive around-the-clock care from an expert staff of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants."

God's Word is not meant to be a cafeteria-style book that collects dust. Even though it is a best seller, it is the least read and is rarely read cover-to-cover. Hearing the Word is also important, though the churches have become so diversified that the audiences are left with confusion instead of having one mind. And there's also the problem of the Word being "watered down." Sin has become almost censored because the subject makes people feel bad and they want feel good sermons nowadays. I have compiled a long list of verses that stress the importance of God's Word and how we are to store those verses in our hearts and brains.

“Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, ‘This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.’ Ex. 24:8” The Old Testament has not been retired. “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them" Those are the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:17. The Old Testament teaches us what constitutes sin and how important it is to be obedient. It is like a master or teacher that, much like how a father on earth teaches his son as his son grows up, when the son reaches maturity he can make good decisions on his own. Jesus’ blood sealed the New Testament/Covenant and we are to abide by that covenant out of love and out of our own free will, not because we feel forced.

Because they have despised the Lord’s word and broken his commands, they must surely be cut off; their guilt remains on them.’” Num. 15:31

He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deut. 8:3

Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Deut. 11:18

MR. LUKE WARM




MR. LUKE B. WARM

    Once there was a man named Luke Warm. He loved the Lord, or so he said. He valued his time off work on Sundays so he didn't always go to church. Once in a while he would help out when asked, as long as it was something he didn't mind doing. 
    It was important to Luke to attend church on Easter and Christmas because he wanted to show the Lord how faithful he was. He dressed up in his finest clothes on those Sundays and sat with the elite. He sure didn't want to sit with the low class sinners.
    Mr. Warm thought about praying over his meals when he ate in a restaurant but was embarrassed that someone would see him. He always meant to pray over meals at home but he ate in front of the tv and he didn't want to miss anything on the news. Other times he would just forget.
    Mrs. Warm went along with what he did, as did the kids. He never gave their salvation a thought. He decided he would leave it up to them to choose whether or not they would go to church. After all, Luke didn't want to force it on them. 
    He kept up with the latest politics and laws and was quick to accept them above Bible teachings. He thought once laws were made, they became acceptable no matter what the Bible says. He never spoke up about right or wrong, however, because in his mind religion and politics didn't mix, and there was the separation of church and state law which he was in error to believe.
    Luke wanted to give a tithe to the church on Easter and at Christmas but he had already spent his money on bills, food for the holiday gatherings, and many presents.
    He thought about reading the Bible but someone was always around and he didn't want them to see him as a weak man or stuffy. Besides, he didn't understand much of it and reading made him sleepy.
    He knew a day of reckoning was coming but Luke Warm wasn't worried. After all, he was a good person and he knew God was a loving God and would welcome all good people into heaven whether or not they had a relationship with Him.
