When someone asks for your time,
Do you stop to count the cost?
For time is money, and money is time,
And you fear some of each will be lost.
Or if you are moved to give a tithe,
As an offering to the Lord,
Do you ponder and fidget and calculate,
How much to let go from your hoard?
If you are asked to give of yourself,
Do you serve with humility?
Or do you with pride and arrogance,
Say, “What do you now want from me?”
Jesus gave up His kingdom on high,
To be crucified here on earth.
He gave His life in place of yours;
What do you think that is worth?
When time, money, or yourself you give,
If you feel you must count the cost,
Consider Christ’s great sacrifice;
It is you who may be lost.
