COMMUNION SCRIPTURES AND POEMS The OT points to the cross and from Acts on refers back to the cross and the hope it provides for the future. Acts 2:42 - They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, and they all drank from it. Mark 14:23 Mark 15:33-41 (the crucifixion story) Mark 16:1-6 (the two Marys at the tomb of Jesus) In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.  Luke 22:20 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons.
