WHAT ROAD DO YOU TRAVEL?

The world offers us a broad and busy superhighway, tempting side roads, and easy shortcuts—but only one narrow path leads to where we truly want to go. So with all these choices, how do we navigage these spiritual crossroads? Read below.

We may not take the superhighway where the biggest part of the world's peoples travel and we may even take a road less traveled, but there is not just one or those roads. We have to make an informed choice as to which is the best road to take. Taking shortcuts is not an option that will take us to a joyful destination. Refusing to get directions won't work either. Do you see where I am going with this? 

Only one way in life leads to heaven. Worldly people are on the superhighway which in no way leads to heaven. A person can take a side road that offers health and wealth like some television evangelists do, but again, there is no joy at the end of that destination either. 

Taking a shortcut just leaves you lost and afraid. You may ignore saying prayers, especially in public, and Bible reading, though you may attend church on occasion if nothing else comes up. That's a shortcut. If you don't read your Bible, you are ignoring the roadmap that tells you what you need to do to be saved. To put it another way, you are riding the fence, unable to make up your mind which way to go -- with the world or with the Lord? You may be stalled and can't decide whether to take the superhighway or the narrow road. So, years go by and your status never changes. You will be called lukewarm and God will spit you out with no hope of heaven. 

That narrow road is the only one that will take you to heaven. And Jesus leads the way on that road. Few people find it and those that do are rewarded for their good choices and their love for the Lord. 

Heaven awaits and so does Jesus and the angels. There will be no more tears, no anguish, no grief, no death, no decay, no wickedness, no deceit, no abandonment, no temptation, no violence, no wars and so on. The beauty will be beyond comprehension. We will have a home of our own. No more homelessness. The animals will not charge at us, not even the wild ones. We will be friends. There will be no more quarreling -- only living in one accord with others and at peace. 

The narrow road isn't without its bumps in the road. The road may become steep at times. Accidents may happen that slow you down for a while. Use that as a time for reflection. It is God leading you beside the still waters and restoring your soul. There are times you will grow weary, but you must not give up. 

On those tempting side roads, you may long for the temporary "fun" while the devil whispers in your ear what you are missing out on and how you deserve it, but as long as you stay on the straight and narrow road, those tempting side roads will become easier to overcome. The same with trials along the way. You will learn to depend on the Lord to get you through thick and thin. You will lose much of your fear. 

If you start to travel off the road, the Lord will rescue you. The closer you get to the end of the road, your blessings will abound. 

Troubles may still arise but you have assurance that God will get you through whatever comes your way and He won't let anyone or anything separate us from Him. "Shall peril, sword, tribulation? Distress, angels, or nakedness, famine or persecution? None of these things will separate us—things present, nor things to come, not powers nor principalities, heighth or depth or creatures who roam." Romans 8:35-38 

I plan to stay on the narrow road and have made sure my children know about that road. Life is often hard but I feel at peace, safe and secure.
