From Bible Babes to Bible Scholars

Joshua 23:6 “Be very strong; be careful to obey all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, without turning aside to the right or to the left. 7 Do not associate with these nations that remain among you; do not invoke the names of their gods or swear by them. You must not serve them or bow down to them. 8 But you are to hold fast to the Lord your God, as you have until now. This is not a politically correct verse but it is straight out of the Bible and shows us the mind of God. Yes, this is Old Testament and we go by the New Testament now, one might say. The OT is not to be ignored, however. It is our textbook that teaches us right from wrong and acquaints us with God. God's commands were practiced out of a sense of duty in the OT but when the NT came after the death of Jesus, we were expected to have matured into a relationship with Him and to show our love to Him and others from our hearts, not out of a sense of duty.
